How do Seller Concessions Work?
So what exactly are seller concessions? A seller concession is something that the seller is going to give to the buyer. There are all types of seller concessions depending on each seller and their situation. Some seller concessions include the seller paying part of the buyer’s closing costs, or maybe perhaps the seller will pay a point on the closing amount of your loan to reduce the amount of the interest rate.
Sellers could also pay for some common inspections that the buyers usually pay for such as the termite inspection, wood infestation inspection, survey, or septic inspection. Also, did you know that once you have your home inspection and are requesting some repairs from the seller, you can negotiate this to where the seller can pay for these repairs at closing or pay some of your closing costs in return for any repairs? So seller concessions can cover a lot of different options!
These are just a few examples of what a seller concession is! As a home buyer, make sure you have a knowledgeable real estate agent by your side to help you with negotiations.
