Parks in Pelham, Alabama
The weather is perfect to spend time outside! Where’s your favorite place to spend time outdoors in Pelham? If you’re looking for some new parks to enjoy, here is our list of parks to spend time at in Pelham this summer!
Let’s take a look at the parks located in Pelham, Alabama (not including smaller neighborhoods parks in the area) here:
Pelham City Park
Let’s start this list of blogs with Pelham City Park, located off of Highway 31 in Pelham. This large, dog friendly, sports centered park is located behind the new Pelham Public Library and Pelham Park Middle School.
The City Park Complex for this park includes a new Recreation Center, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, the Pelham Park Pavilion, a dog park (for both small and large dogs), a playground (called Pelham Playstation – how cute!), and more! Contact the city about reserving fields and courts.
The Greenway Trail, a six and a half mile walking path, goes through Pelham City Park and leads to the Pelham dog park. You can even follow the walking trail along Bearden Road up to Pelham High School and see homes along the way! The Greenway Trail project is undergoing and soon this walking trail will connect to the entrance of Oak Mountain State Park.
There will even be a new splash pad opening in Pelham City park this summer (2023). So stay tuned! This park is definitely growing and we can’t wait to see the additions to this already wonderful gem in Pelham.
Be prepared to spend the day here exploring! Head over to Pelham City Park: 555 Ball Park Rd, Pelham, AL 35124. Read more about Pelham City Park here.
Fun Go Holler Park
What a fun name for a park! The Fun Go Holler Park is located behind the Pelham Racquet Club. There is a basketball court, children’s playground, and a softball / baseball field! There’s even a lighted walking trail alongside and behind the park. This small park is great to enjoy with a nice walk or letting the little ones play on the playground.
Get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air at this park (and maybe head to play some tennis, too!): 200 Racquet Club Pkwy, Pelham, AL 35124
Coker Park
This park is located by the Mallard Pointe neighborhood (off of County Road 72), and offers parking for you and your crew (even though it’s located in a subdivision). There is a playground, a ½ mile walking path, and benches for a picnic. This park is dog friendly. While it’s smaller than Pelham City Park, it is a nice area to get out and enjoy the outdoors!
Enjoy the grand walking path or keep close to the playground and have snacks while enjoying being outside at this park. Check Coker Park out here: 732 County Road 72, Pelham, AL 35124
Carroll Park
This city park is a small, and more of a neighborhood park for Chandalar, but does show up towards the top of the list in Google when you search for parks in Pelham, Alabama. There is no parking for this park, hence it’s most likely easier to access if you live close by. This park has a large clearing that is great for games and picnics. There isn’t a playground or sports area, but it is dog friendly!
Enjoy a game outdoors, a picnic, or just walk the dog at this small but beautiful park. Carroll Park is down the street from Pelham City Park, so if it’s full or you can’t easily get to it, then go check out the City Park! Check Carroll Park out here: 1800-1890 Chandalar Ct, Pelham, AL 35124
Oak Mountain State Park
Last but not least, Oak Mountain Park is located in Pelham, Alabama! This park is the largest park in Alabama, and there is so much to do here!
From hiking, horseback riding, swimming, laying out on the beach, kayaking, waterfall hunting, sightseeing, archery, biking, water sports, a tree top course, Alabama Wildlife Center, and so much more, there is something for everyone at this park! You can even camp overnight and there’s a golf course.
There’s even a new trail that just opened up in Spring of 2023. Lake Lunker trail is a new 2.8 mile trail with lake views, we can’t wait to check it out! Oak Mountain is also going to be adding a state dog park to their list of amenities, so stay tuned for when this opens.
