Grey Oaks Neighborhood – Pelham, Alabama

Looking for a great neighborhood to live in Pelham, Alabama? Then check out Grey Oaks! This neighborhood has a great location and is right next to the largest state park in Alabama, Oak Mountain! This neighborhood is still being built (as of February 2022), which means the homes are newer! It also means you still have the option to choose your own floor plan for some available lots!

Where is Grey Oaks?

Grey Oaks is located in Pelham, Alabama, and is part of Shelby County. This neighborhood is located right off of County Road 11 and is 24.5 miles SouthEast of Birmingham. It’s 11.9 miles from the entrance of Oak Mountain State Park. It also borders Chelsea, Alabama. So if you prefer a more out of city living, then location is one of this neighborhood’s best qualities!

In addition, this neighborhood is also close to I65 (9.3 miles) and County Road 52 (5.1 miles). You’re able to get on a main road without traveling far. The closest shopping center in Pelham is Pelham Towne Center, which is 6 miles west of Grey Oaks.

Living in Grey Oaks

According to Nextdoor, some of the things that residents love about living in Grey Oaks is that it’s family friendly, peaceful, quiet, safe, private, offers walkability throughout the neighborhood, and overall a great welcoming atmosphere to live in close to nature.

Some amenities for the residents to enjoy are a pool and picnic pavilion. You will drive over a bridge that overlooks train tracks in order to get into the neighborhood. One thing I personally loved about this neighborhood is the woody backyards and how there were hand painted veterans mailboxes for the veterans that lived there. Just a little southern neighborhood charm!

Homes in Grey Oaks 

Homes in Grey Oaks vary from style to size, so you are sure to find the perfect home you’re looking for in this neighborhood. Square footage for these homes range between 2,400 square feet to over 3,300 square feet. Most of the homes are four sided brick. As with the style and size, pricing varies, but be prepared to see homes priced from $400K – $600K in this neighborhood.

The houses themselves vary from slab homes to homes with basements (which is a huge plus in the Birmingham area!). Many offer 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Some of these homes are one level while others have two levels, some homes have garages (some of which fit up to 4 cars). Let your real estate agent know the type of home you are looking for. There are plenty of woods around the neighborhood and homes, so you don’t feel like you’re too close to the city. It’s a nice atmosphere.

Grey Oaks is zoned for Pelham City Schools. While there are two elementary schools for Pelham, this neighborhood is zoned for Pelham Ridge Elementary School, Pelham Park Middle School, and Pelham High School. Oak Mountain State Park

As we already mentioned, Grey Oaks is right next to Oak Mountain State Park. This park is home to Oak Mountain Golf course for those of you who love the outdoors and golf. To learn more about what Oak Mountain State Park offers, read this blog.

If you’re more of a tennis player, then you will be pleased to know that the Pelham Racquet club is also nearby. The Pelham Civic Complex is also nearby, so you can watch a hockey game or go ice skating. The Oak Mountain Amphitheater is close as well  if you enjoy live concerts. The neighborhood is about a thirty minute drive to downtown Birmingham! There are lots of amenities and shops near this neighborhood, making it a convenient area to live in.
