What to Know As a Seller About the Alabama Seller Disclosure Law

So what does the Alabama Seller Disclosure Law state? The state of Alabama is a caveat emptor state which means ‘buyer beware’. This means that it is up to the buyer to inspect the property they are purchasing before they buy it and assume responsibility. In short, the sellers and the seller’s agent aren’t required to disclose any defects that the home may have unless asked or unless the defects pose any safety or health risks.

When you sell your home in Alabama, keep in mind that it’s still your duty to disclose any known defects that can pose health or safety risks in your home. This can help prevent and reduce liability or lawsuits later on. Be up front with the buyers during the process of selling your home.
